THE SCENT OF A MAN DRIVES WOMEN CRAZY

There is no denying it….women notice men who smell good. Whether it is a guy we pass in a store or the love of our life, our heads will turn to the scent of a sexy smelling man. As much as women appreciate the scent of a man we want to make sure that the men we have in our lives smell as attractive as they are to us. Unfortunately, guys do not seem to grasp the importance of using cologne to keeping their ladies enticed. Since men are visual creatures perhaps explaining the benefits of this little aphrodisiac will open their eyes to the importance of its use.
Smelling Good Means Taking Care of Yourself
& Shows You Can Take Care of Others
Speaking for myself I can say that a “good smelling man” signifies a gentleman who cares enough about his hygiene to make the extra effort to top off his cleanliness with nice cologne. If you are lucky enough to have passed the initial phase of dating and your man still wears cologne it means he still wants to be attractive to you. By wearing cologne it shows he is still making the effort to give you something you like as well as taking care of him.
The Scent of a Man is Undeniable
There have actually been studies conducted on this by professionals and just curious individuals. What I found interesting was that the majority of these studies were conducted by young men who wanted to fully comprehend what it was about a man’s smell that drove women crazy. One that was particularly interesting to me was a college male who noticed a female friend wearing an extremely oversized sweater on a completely sunny day. Her female friends (all dressed in tank tops and short sleeved shirts) were gathered around her at the table next to his. He could over hear the commotion of compliments they were giving her in regards to her sweater. For the life of him he could not understand at all why!?! His thinking was she looked horrible because it did not fit her at all and it was way too hot for her to be wearing a sweater. When he finally could not stand his own curiosity any longer he intruded on their conversation. What he found surprised him. The sweater belonged to the girl’s boyfriend and the other ladies were taken back and intoxicated with the smell of the sweater. He thought to himself, “You have got to be kidding me!!” But, they weren’t and his ignorance to the power of a man’s smell led to his research.
What he went on to discover in his project was that human pheromones(aka your bodies’ natural chemicals) have been known to sexually attract women. A little interesting side note…these same human pheromones have been known to repel men. Studies have shown that these same chemicals also harbor a spacing pheromone which is used to “mark territory” and signal physical presence in the male species. Just another piece of evidence that “Men are from Mars & women are from Venus” LOL!! This particular experiment went on to show that women responded with friendliness, sensitivity and emotionality when exposed to larger concentrations of the chemical. Also intriguing were the facts that the chemical showed a greater effect in the first period of the woman’s menstrual cycle and when combined with other fragrant ingredients (men’s colognes).  It is proven that women will generally undergo flushing of the nasal area and the cheeks when they are exposed to the chemical/cologne and will indeed tend to flirt more.
Friend or Lover A Man's Smell is Important
So guys… (And for the gals who have to educate their men) here are a few recommendations that will help you in this area. I strongly urge you to have 2-3 colognes at hand so you can “shake it up”.  Women like spontaneity and by changing the way you smell a few times a week gives the insight that you are not predicable and boring. This is important on two levels. If a woman is looking for a mate she wants one that will most definitely bring some spice to her life. By rotating your cologne choice you will show that you are surprising.  For those of you that have your soul mate, by rotating your cologne you are showing that you still want to have fun and spice things up in your relationship. Mainly it shows her that you want her to be attracted to you.
Never apply cologne solely to your clothes. If you do this the smell with eventually vanish within a matter of a few hours. Your clothes do not contain the natural pheromones that your body does therefore you will not obtain the full effect of your cologne if you do not apply it directly on your body. When you spray cologne on the right spots it will mix with these pheromones to create a scent that is distinctive as being YOUR SMELL. Each person’s body creates its own natural smell with these pheromones and mixed with cologne your own individual smell is created. Your smell cannot be duplicated. Now you know why cologne never smells the same on another person as it does you.  You are unique!!!
The best parts to apply cologne to your body are known as the “hot spots”. This is because they are the areas known to produce the most heat. The heat from your body will combine with the chemicals from the cologne to produce a longer, greater satisfying and effective smell. To achieve the maximum results when wearing cologne, it is suggested that you apply it to the following body parts: neck, wrist, arm pits and behind the ears. If you are using a spray cologne do not spray it behind your ears. Spray it on your hands and rub it behind your ears after all, you don’t want to smell like you took a bath it your cologne. Too much is too much. Another benefit to putting cologne on behind your ears is that when you are dancing with your lady we will tend to whisper in your ear or rest our heads directly on your shoulder so we will not be able to escape your spell-binding aroma.
You do not have to break the bank to smell good. There are an unlimited amount of expensive colognes on the market. The most expensive to date was a perfume/cologne made by Calvin Klein.  It sold for a record $2,670 per bottle and contained a chemical called androstenone this according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Luckily for you there are cheaper alternatives. Mary Kay sells men’s cologne that is called “DOMAIN” that is amazing. I have to say that this is one my all time favorites. It reminds me of a combination of Drakkar and Abercrombie & Finch cologne for a fraction of the cost. A 2.5 fl oz bottle of Domain costs $34.00. You can also purchase the body wash and hair shampoo for $18.00. Domain will wrap you (or your man) is a scent of hearth and home mixed with a blend of lavender and oak moss. It is a very masculine scent that will keep the women drooling for hours.
Mary Kay also sells additional men’s cologne. For a complete listing and description of these scents please visit my website at: www.marykay.com/ur4beauty . "I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND"

One of the negative results of nature’s temperature changes that we do not welcome with each new season are chapped hands.  Changes in the climate can take our normal, healthy looking hands and transform them into a tired, aching, sore and completely unattractive extension of ourselves. Lucky for us this is a small side step of Mother Nature & her elements and it is completely treatable.

Embrace the One You Love
Without Fear

Chapped hands are classified as a result of very dry skin. This occurs when there is reduced moisture (or water) content of the skin. Therefore, we related chapped skin to the cold air. As we all know, the surface of our skin holds a certain about of water. When and if there is a decrease in the amount of water content in our skin, we will experience dry, itchy and uncomfortable skin.  This occurrence can display itself in patches or subsequently affect the whole area of the hands. When this happens we tend to become self conscious of our appearance and our contact with others. When you have chapped hands you can fear the smallest things, like touching someone slightly on the shoulder, hugging a friend or shaking hands with a stranger. How in the world can chapped hands affect all of these areas you ask? Well, first you become highly aware and embarrassed by the appearance of your hands. Secondly, the pain that can accompany chapped hands is intensified by the presence of air, and highly sensitive to touch of any kind. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if you are the one being touched or the one doing the touching, if you have dry, chapped hands you will experience some discomfort regardless of the order of which the “touches” are being exchanged.
Most of us would never allow our hands to reach severe degrees because we are so aware and attentive to one of our most used body parts. However, we can unknowingly expose ourselves to the possibilities with very menial and routine tasks. In a society that seems to be plagued with viruses and germs, we are constantly being told to wash our hands and even repeat the lecture with our children. We do so until it becomes a practice that is etched in our brains and an action we do without having to remind ourselves to do so. As a result, our hands suffer and need extra TLC.
For others, the root cause is not as obvious as hand washing. It can be a genetic predisposition to dry skin. Eczema and other skin disorders can show themselves through dry, chapped skin on the hands. An allergic reaction to certain products or elements can also disguise itself as chapped skin.
I am a person who finds favorite form of relaxation/alone time is through enjoying a long, hot bath. But, in doing research on this subject I discovered that my habitual enjoyment is one of the leading causes of chapped skin. I did feel somewhat affirmed in my decision to “continue soaking in the tub” when I realized that taking long hot showers can have the same resultJ. I can also continue to enjoy it because I can control the longevity of it as a precaution. I should have been fully aware of the effects bathing could have on my skin considering the fact that any long term exposure to cold or heat can affect your skin. With this particular cause, come other culprits that can affect the texture of your skin. Sunburn and windburn are two factors we all have more than likely been a victim of at some point in our lives. Winter’s low humidity that brings with it dry air as well as the use of indoor heat will deplete the moisture in our skin. One of the most undeniable factors of this condition is AGE. The dreaded three letter word. Yes, we cannot hide from it! The inescapable truth is that the older we get the more attention and care we must pay to our body…HANDS INCLUDED!!!
In the most severe cases, it can become difficult for you to perform everyday tasks without wearing protective gloves.  There are the reoccurring skin conditions such as skin inflammations or outbreaks  of eczema which can become conditions requiring professional care due to the fact that bacteria has entered through the cracks of the dry, chapped skin.
A Mother's Touch is Cherished

This condition is one that you can prevent from happening to you.  For those of you who are prone to dry skin be sure to soak your skin thoroughly while bathing or showering. But remember to limit the time you spend exposing yourself to the water as well as the amount of soap that you are using. Some may find that the soap you use affects different parts of your body in different ways. Therefore, this may call for a change in the product you use overall or the addition of a new product for the more sensitive target areas such as underarms or genitalia.  Whether you are bathing or simply washing your hands, always, always be sure to pat the hands dry with a towel and apply a moisturizer. It is proven that moisturizers do just that they moisturize the skin by coating it with oil.  They also block the evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and trap water in its surface (skin). While they cannot cure existing skin conditions such as eczema, moisturizers provide protection and relieve the dry, itchy side effect and help to reduce the tendency of the skin to crack. While most of the water in moisturizers can evaporate, the oil remains acting as a lubricant which allows the skin to retain that moisture.

There are two types of moisturizers available for over-the-counter purchase. The first ones at our disposal are cosmetic moisturizers. They will provide immediate relief of dry skin but will last only while they are applied to the skin. For some people this will be enough to keep your skin from feeling dry and chapped.
Second in this group are therapeutic moisturizers. It is proven that many of these creams contain mineral oil or petroleum that act as a barrier to keep the water from disappearing from the skin.
The best way to avoid chapped hands is to keep them well dried, protected from the elements of nature (cold and wind); wear cotton-lined gloves for wet work and brain wash yourself to practice frequently applying moisturizers to your skin. If you find yourself still suffering from a severe form of chapped, dry, cracked hands please consult a dermatologist. He will be able to prescribe you a medicated hand cream to help treat your symptoms.
I am proud to say that one of the most renowned and highly regarded products presently on the market is the Mary Kay “Satin Hands” pampering set.  This product has won several awards and has been featured in magazines throughout the world as a recommendation from the professionals as one of the best skin care products available. We offer this as a set of three items for $34. This set consists of a hand softener, hand scrub, and a hand cream with 24 hour moisturization (not offered by many products).  It is recommended that you complete the three step process at least once a day. But, the hand cream is sold separately and you can apply the it as often as you like. What you will find is that you save money that you would normally spend on other moisturizers by using just one application a day of the “Satin Hands” hand cream. This product is also available in “fragrance free” for those who have sensitive skin. This product is dermatologist approved and will give you the change you are looking for. It is the “rock star” of hand creams.

SAY GOOD-BYE TO SUMMER BUT NOT YOUR SUN KISSED GLOW

September 21, 2010 was the official last day of summer. But, that doesn’t mean that you cannot keep that beautiful summer glow all year round. There are numerous products available to help you achieve or keep that golden, bronzed look that so many of us love. You can use a self tanner or bronzer to make your skin glow without having to damage your skin with the use of a tanning bed or exposing yourself to harmful UV rays.
Below are some tips to help you achieve various degrees of “natural tan” for a variety of skin tones. Read on to discover which hue best fits you!!

Lightly Sun Kissed
A naturally sun kissed look can be achieved year-round by applying bronzer to places where the sun would hit your face. Mix equal parts moisturizing bronzing lotion with foundation for a sheer, all-over glow that warms up your complexion, or apply it (over liquid foundation) to the high parts of the face. Be sure to avoid mixing wet bronzing formulas with powder foundation or blush.
Sun-Kissed Makeup: Complement a lightly sun-kissed glow with warm pink shades and dewy golden glosses. You will also find that using colored mascara will also help to bring out your eyes.
Golden Glow
For an all-over golden tone that’s perfect for an exotic vacation, try a sheer bronzer that’s a few shades deeper than your skin tone. Blend to perfection. With a fluffy brush, apply pressed powder bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face. In a sweeping motion that mimics the number three, brush on color to the outer part of each side of the face. Are you in the mood for a loose powder? Swirl your brush over the top of a pressed powder until it loosens then spill the dust into the palm of your hand. Apply as usual.
Golden Glow Makeup: A golden glow looks fetching when paired with shades of peach, gold, coral and sea blue.
Goddess Bronze
A deep, Barbie-perfect tan brings out the color of your eyes and complements highlights in your hair.  This island look is best achieved with deep bronzing products—stay out of the sun! Mix equal parts foundation and bronzer (liquid, foam or gel) for an all-over glow or use these formulas to tan the highpoints of the face: bridge of the nose, temples and cheekbones. Before leaving the house, don’t forget to check your jaw line for tell-tale lines of demarcation.  For best blending, do not mix with powder blush or foundation.
Goddess Bronze makeup: Accent a goddess bronze tan with metallic bronze shadow, bright and juicy lip glosses in shades of pimento red and tangerine. Use highlighters sparingly.

Pucker Up for Kissable Lips

All of us want to have kissable lips. Our lips are one of the first features that other people notice when they see us. Therefore, we should emphasize one of the most alluring assets of our body’s whenever we can. Lips can drastically change your appearance by choice of color, sheen and visible softness. We can be sporting a completely makeup free face but, apply a little splash of color to the lips and you feel immediately uplifted and glamorous.
I have broken down the process of modeling kissable lips into three easy steps.
Step 1: PREPARING THE CANVAS aka YOUR LIPS
You want to first smooth your lips with a balm. Just like the rest of our skin, our lips experience a lot of damage due to climate changes, our biological genes and even bad habits we may possess (licking our lips, nibbling our lips, etc.). Our lips need moisture and applying a balm helps to keep them moisturized. You can also use a lip primer (my personal favorite) to ensure the appearance of smooth lips while prolonging the wear of your lip color. When using a waxing balm or lip primer you will apply it using your fingertips and massage it into your lips. Allow your lips to absorb the product by waiting at least five minutes before apply your color. Whatever your choice may be, you will want to avoid any products that are slick or petroleum based. If you don’t, your lipstick will almost immediately vanish. Using these types of products ultimately makes your lip color “fall off.”
Step 2: CHOOSE YOUR SPLASH OF COLOR/LIPSTICK
When choosing your color of lipstick, remember to always think of the look you are trying to achieve. If you are going for a more down to earth/casual look choose a color that allows your natural lip color to show through. In this case, you will want to go with a sheer lipstick or sheer gloss to obtain that look. Then of course, you can vamp it up as dramatically as you would like with the wide range of colors now available to dress up your lips. Apply lipstick straight from the tube and blend into lips and the lines along your lips with your fingertips. After doing so, to make your color last all day kiss a Kleenex to blot. Then you will apply your choice of lip gloss with the wand of the gloss or your choice of lip brushes.
Step 3: BLOTTING
When you are finished applying your colors you will want to lightly kiss the back of your hand. This allows you to get rid of any excess product without cutting down the sheen. Then gently smack your lips together to even out your color one last time. Then get ready to pucker up…

For the Guys

Happy Thursday world! When I decided to start this blog it was in an effort to offer beauty tips that I believe it and have personally benefited from. My intentions are for this blog to be for men and women. So the info I offer on the male portion comes from first hand experience and knowledge I have gained through research. I want to captivate the men just as much as I do the women when it comes to the world of beauty. I want to make sure all the guys out there don't feel less important when it comes to pampering yourself. Believe it or not fellas...being pampered does not lessen your masculinity. You should come away feeling relaxed and more empowered :-) Not to mention, the fact that you can and will pamper yourselves makes your more attractive to the ladies!! I'm just sayin'. LOL!!
Yesterday I talked about skin hydration for the ladies. But, it is vital that the men also take steps to keep their skin hydrated as well. As we all know men have the daunting task of shaving their facial hair on a daily basis (unless you are sporting a Karl Marx trademark beard). Shaving is an especially important reason that the guys need to keep their skin hydrated. Men experience skin inflammation more commonly than the female population. With this being said, guys should give their skin the VIP treatment on a regular basis. Be sure to look for products that contain witch hazel, vitamin B5 & capuacu butter. These are key ingredients that help prevent infection and inflammation within male skin cells. For the gentlemen who choose to shave at night, be sure to choose a product that contains Shea butter and/or avocado oil. You want to avoid fragrances, minerals, and alcohols in the cream.
I will be happy to help you start your skin care regimen or add to one you may already have in progress. You can contact me directly or visit my website at:
www. marykay.com/ur4beauty. First time buyers receive 20% off of their initial order. Also, note that I can ship anywhere:-)
Have a great day!!
