Join the Revolution

We live in a world that is constantly changing. Ironically, at the same time our world is trying so hard to return to the elements of Mother Nature. It is a revolution of sorts, the "green revolution" if you will. As devoted citizens we do our part as we try to recycle everything we can and be a warrior for preservation. Everywhere we turn we see campaigns for saving our planet with “eco friendly” merchandise. The cosmetics industry is not blind to this effort and has revolutionized its line with “mineral powder” products. Mary Kay has been and will continue to be an award winning, front runner with their mineral powder line.
"MIRACLE" Mineral Powder
by Mary Kay
So exactly what is all of the “hoopla” about when it comes to mineral powder makeup products? I decided to do some research to uncover the exact allure in addition to my own personal desire of this type of makeup. Today I am going to focus on Mineral Powder Foundation. First and foremost, mineral powder makeup is proven to be better for you. The mineral foundations are made from all natural and gentle ingredients that do not damage your skin. They do not contain fillers, oils, dyes or any harsh chemicals. Taking these factors into consideration is just added proof that these foundations are the best for you because they will not cause irritation or infections of your skin. This is especially important considering the largest area to which it is applied is your face….your most visible pallet!!

Beautiful, Complete Coverage
Another attraction of the mineral powder foundation is that it gives better coverage. Typically you may use a concealer under your foundation to do just that- conceal!! The purpose of a concealer is to “hide” the unattractive areas on your face that need extra coverage. Using a mineral powder foundation can eliminate your need to purchase and use concealer. It is ideal for concealing scars, small pimples, brown or red spots, blemishes. They provide superior coverage due to the lack of cheap, unnatural and unhealthy fillers. This type of foundation has also been proven to be the best for concealing skin disorders such as acne, Rosacea and Melasma. Tests and studies have shown that mineral powder foundations are wonderful for acne sufferers. Not only do they provide complete coverage, they also help to calm and heal inflammation brought on by acne. Mineral powder foundations will give you an even and natural looking coverage that you can wear all by itself on days that you prefer to be more casual. Or you can totally dress it up with your other makeup products and be pure glamourous!!

Transform Yourself with Just One Product
Mineral powder foundations are also great for those who suffer from dry skin because the minerals “trap” moisture in the skin and help your skin feel hydrated all the time. Personally I have fallen in love with the mineral powder foundation. Within the last two years the skin on my face has undergone an “oily phase” awakening several realizations to say the least!! The mineral powder foundation has been a lifesaver for me and is wonderful for my oily skin. I no longer have to perform “face checks” due to worrying about an embarrassing and shiny face. Just the way that it will”trap” moisture in dry skin it will also “trap” the oils in oily skin. It also gives you a weightless feel to your makeup unlike the “caked on” feeling of wearing a liquid foundation, concealer and a loose powder. This foundation is truly light as a feather! Mineral powder foundations work perfectly on all ages. It works great on mature skin because it refracts light which in turns minimizes the appearance of fine lines, imperfections, discolorations and wrinkles.  Loose mineral foundation is the purest form of foundation available and is appropriate for every skin type, including those with very oily or sensitive skin. Simply put it is the BEST foundation choice for all ages and skin types.

Perfect and Economical
The third and possibly best allure of mineral powder foundation is the cost. Mary Kay’s Mineral Powder Foundation costs $18.00 and you will be amazed at just how long it lasts.  “A little goes a long way” certainly proves to be true with this product. As I mentioned previously, it’s concealing effects are amazing and will definitely save you money. By having the superb coverage of a mineral powder foundation, you will no longer need a liquid foundation, a concealer and then a loose powder to set your makeup in place. The mineral powder foundation does it all for a mere fraction of the cost. Who doesn’t love that?!?!

If you have never used a mineral powder foundation you may be wondering about the application process. Honestly, it is a breeze. The natural pigments that mineral products contain blend easily and effortlessly on the skin. This type of foundation must be applied with a brush or a sponge. DO NOT USE YOUR FINGERS!!! I personally recommend using a good brush for the application of this product. Using a brush to apply the foundation will allow for you to distribute the minerals evenly and ensure a “streak free” face. When choosing your foundation brush be sure that its bristles are consisted of high density hair. It should also be short, soft and firm. Mary Kay’s Mineral Foundation Brush is just that and priced very affordable at only $10.00.  Remember using makeup brushes comprised of synthetic bristles is damaging to your skin because of the chemicals they contain and their hard texture. You will turn your container upside down and tap on the bottom a few times to release the powder into the lid. Turn the container right side up and unscrew the top. Place your brush in the powder that has presented itself on top and lightly tap your brush into the lid to eliminate the excess powder. Then simply begin brushing it across your face until all of the desired areas are covered. It's as easy as 1-2-3!!!
Pressed Mineral Powder
Loose Mineral Powder

I highly encourage you to use the loose foundation as it is proven to be the best form of foundation to use. ERASE YOUR BAGGAGE

Erase Your Baggage
Thank God it’s Friday!!! The phrase so commonly stated by many often precedes a fun filled, action packed weekend. With those good times there are often repercussions that we are not so thankful for; hangovers, lost sleep, and puffy eyes just to name a few. We all know where hangovers come from and what causes them and lost sleep is an explanation in itself. But, exactly what causes those dreadful puffy eyes that we are many times afflicted with?

Guys Are Affected Too
Puffy eyes are a condition of swollen, inflamed eyes. They affect both men and women. Studies have shown that after the age of 30 people become more plagued by this inflammation. The area surrounding the eyes is very then and full of blood vessels making it ultra sensitive. Puffy eyes can be caused by many factors. As many of us know they also do not limit their appearance on us to just the weekends. Some of the causes of puffy eyes include stress, allergies, hormone changes, fluid retention and other factors. We are fully aware that when someone cries often times it leaves us accompanied with swollen/puffy eyes. This is due to the fact our bodies react to emotions and causes blood to flow through the eyes which ultimately leads to swelling. The production of too many emotional tears will also strain the eye. “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” if it were only as easy as the song claims.

Sleep or lack of I should say, affects our lives in countless ways.  In regards to puffy eyes, too much sleep and not enough sleep can be a trigger. This can be caused due to varying factors such as too much sodium in your diet causing inflammation due to water retention, tossing and turning and not getting enough “good sleep”.
For many of us, the weekend brings with it a time to gather with our friends and family, the celebration of different events or simple weekend getaways. All of these can include the enjoyment of an alcoholic beverage. Studies have shown that alcohol also has an impact on the swelling of your eyes. However, it is a more prominent symptom for those excessive drinkers.
You can take a deep breath because there are several things you can do to treat and prevent the appearance of puffy eyes.  If you suffer from normal puffy eyes that are not caused by other eye conditions you can try several things to get them back to normal. First, always limit your sodium intake for several health reasons in addition to preventing swollen eyes.  Be sure to drink lots of water throughout your day. This is another healthy practice to hydrate your body and to make sure you are flushing your system regularly. I have a few friends who swear that washing your face with ICE cold water offers immediate relief if you can tolerate the chill. I cannot say if this does indeed offer an immediate relief but, I am sure it will wake you up very quickly LOL!!!
Tea Bag Therapy?
Cucumber Spa?
There are of course a few home remedies that most of us have heard of and possibly have even tried. The famous cucumber slices on the eye is one of those. The legend says that you should place two well chilled cucumbers on your eyes for no longer than 10 minutes. Now, I have tried this one. For me it seems to make me relax more but, does not diminish puffy eyes.  Another common home remedy is to take two very well moistened tea bags and place them in the refrigerator. Once they have reached a nice chilled temperature place them on your eyes and leave them on for a period of 10 minutes. This is not a practice I have tried.  But, I am curious….
I would rather have a product that I know works so I can rest assured that I will be able to rectify my swollen eyes when they decide to grace me with their presence LOL!! The three products that I use and highly recommend are:

Mary Kay Firming Eye Cream ($30): Firms, brightens and provides intense moisturization for the eye area. It also minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.

Mary Kay Indulge Eye Gel ($15): its botanical extracts are proven to help reduce the appearance of puffiness. It is also accompanied by a nice cooling effect.

Mary Kay Targeted-Action Eye Revitalizer ($35): its roller ball applicator makes it possible for you to apply the product exactly where it is needed all while giving your eyes a “massage”

Please be aware that their cases where puffy eyes are persistent and severe. They can be a symptom of an underlying eye condition such as allergies of the eye. When in this form the puffy eyes are commonly accompanied by pain, discomfort, blurry vision, irritation and/or other conditions. If you are experiencing puffy eyes to this degree it is imperative that you seek medical assistance from an optometrist.
Enjoy your weekends or any celebration by knowing that you can treat the “physical evidence” of your fun filled life!! Start erasing your baggage now. Order your Mary Kay eye care today. "I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND"

One of the negative results of nature’s temperature changes that we do not welcome with each new season are chapped hands.  Changes in the climate can take our normal, healthy looking hands and transform them into a tired, aching, sore and completely unattractive extension of ourselves. Lucky for us this is a small side step of Mother Nature & her elements and it is completely treatable.

Embrace the One You Love
Without Fear

Chapped hands are classified as a result of very dry skin. This occurs when there is reduced moisture (or water) content of the skin. Therefore, we related chapped skin to the cold air. As we all know, the surface of our skin holds a certain about of water. When and if there is a decrease in the amount of water content in our skin, we will experience dry, itchy and uncomfortable skin.  This occurrence can display itself in patches or subsequently affect the whole area of the hands. When this happens we tend to become self conscious of our appearance and our contact with others. When you have chapped hands you can fear the smallest things, like touching someone slightly on the shoulder, hugging a friend or shaking hands with a stranger. How in the world can chapped hands affect all of these areas you ask? Well, first you become highly aware and embarrassed by the appearance of your hands. Secondly, the pain that can accompany chapped hands is intensified by the presence of air, and highly sensitive to touch of any kind. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if you are the one being touched or the one doing the touching, if you have dry, chapped hands you will experience some discomfort regardless of the order of which the “touches” are being exchanged.
Most of us would never allow our hands to reach severe degrees because we are so aware and attentive to one of our most used body parts. However, we can unknowingly expose ourselves to the possibilities with very menial and routine tasks. In a society that seems to be plagued with viruses and germs, we are constantly being told to wash our hands and even repeat the lecture with our children. We do so until it becomes a practice that is etched in our brains and an action we do without having to remind ourselves to do so. As a result, our hands suffer and need extra TLC.
For others, the root cause is not as obvious as hand washing. It can be a genetic predisposition to dry skin. Eczema and other skin disorders can show themselves through dry, chapped skin on the hands. An allergic reaction to certain products or elements can also disguise itself as chapped skin.
I am a person who finds favorite form of relaxation/alone time is through enjoying a long, hot bath. But, in doing research on this subject I discovered that my habitual enjoyment is one of the leading causes of chapped skin. I did feel somewhat affirmed in my decision to “continue soaking in the tub” when I realized that taking long hot showers can have the same resultJ. I can also continue to enjoy it because I can control the longevity of it as a precaution. I should have been fully aware of the effects bathing could have on my skin considering the fact that any long term exposure to cold or heat can affect your skin. With this particular cause, come other culprits that can affect the texture of your skin. Sunburn and windburn are two factors we all have more than likely been a victim of at some point in our lives. Winter’s low humidity that brings with it dry air as well as the use of indoor heat will deplete the moisture in our skin. One of the most undeniable factors of this condition is AGE. The dreaded three letter word. Yes, we cannot hide from it! The inescapable truth is that the older we get the more attention and care we must pay to our body…HANDS INCLUDED!!!
In the most severe cases, it can become difficult for you to perform everyday tasks without wearing protective gloves.  There are the reoccurring skin conditions such as skin inflammations or outbreaks  of eczema which can become conditions requiring professional care due to the fact that bacteria has entered through the cracks of the dry, chapped skin.
A Mother's Touch is Cherished

This condition is one that you can prevent from happening to you.  For those of you who are prone to dry skin be sure to soak your skin thoroughly while bathing or showering. But remember to limit the time you spend exposing yourself to the water as well as the amount of soap that you are using. Some may find that the soap you use affects different parts of your body in different ways. Therefore, this may call for a change in the product you use overall or the addition of a new product for the more sensitive target areas such as underarms or genitalia.  Whether you are bathing or simply washing your hands, always, always be sure to pat the hands dry with a towel and apply a moisturizer. It is proven that moisturizers do just that they moisturize the skin by coating it with oil.  They also block the evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and trap water in its surface (skin). While they cannot cure existing skin conditions such as eczema, moisturizers provide protection and relieve the dry, itchy side effect and help to reduce the tendency of the skin to crack. While most of the water in moisturizers can evaporate, the oil remains acting as a lubricant which allows the skin to retain that moisture.

There are two types of moisturizers available for over-the-counter purchase. The first ones at our disposal are cosmetic moisturizers. They will provide immediate relief of dry skin but will last only while they are applied to the skin. For some people this will be enough to keep your skin from feeling dry and chapped.
Second in this group are therapeutic moisturizers. It is proven that many of these creams contain mineral oil or petroleum that act as a barrier to keep the water from disappearing from the skin.
The best way to avoid chapped hands is to keep them well dried, protected from the elements of nature (cold and wind); wear cotton-lined gloves for wet work and brain wash yourself to practice frequently applying moisturizers to your skin. If you find yourself still suffering from a severe form of chapped, dry, cracked hands please consult a dermatologist. He will be able to prescribe you a medicated hand cream to help treat your symptoms.
I am proud to say that one of the most renowned and highly regarded products presently on the market is the Mary Kay “Satin Hands” pampering set.  This product has won several awards and has been featured in magazines throughout the world as a recommendation from the professionals as one of the best skin care products available. We offer this as a set of three items for $34. This set consists of a hand softener, hand scrub, and a hand cream with 24 hour moisturization (not offered by many products).  It is recommended that you complete the three step process at least once a day. But, the hand cream is sold separately and you can apply the it as often as you like. What you will find is that you save money that you would normally spend on other moisturizers by using just one application a day of the “Satin Hands” hand cream. This product is also available in “fragrance free” for those who have sensitive skin. This product is dermatologist approved and will give you the change you are looking for. It is the “rock star” of hand creams.

LIVE LIKE THE SUPER STAR THAT YOU ARE

As I have started on this new business endeavor, I present myself to you as an Independent/Professional Beauty Consultant. For some of you, the title “beauty consultant” may be just a polished way of saying “makeup salesperson.” However, I wanted to take some time to explain just what this title means and the responsibilities one must embrace as they make the decision to proudly adopt the label of “beauty consultant.”  Contrary to popular belief, as a Mary Kay Independent/Professional Beauty Consultant, is not simply an annoying lady in pink trying to shove her products down your throat.  I am so much more.
A beauty consultant is someone who provides advice about personal appearance, with a focus on enhancing a person’s beauty, helping those less confident individuals find and embrace their beauty and for the career driven we help them to look professionally polished. Beauty consultants are not only found working directly for cosmetic companies such as Mary Kay but, they are also employed by department stores. They sell their products by showing individuals how they work and they can best be used to improve personal appearance. Often times they can also run private consulting agencies used by people who want to make radical changes to the way they look. You may not be aware that beauty consultants also staff makeover television shows and other services which are designed to provide image makeovers. In fact, beauty consultants are also referred to as image consultants, style consultants and stylists. We can and do fall under these labels when we are approached to help a person with their overall look including their fashion choices. After all, when you have the desire to look a certain way your attire is naturally affected by the transformation.
In today’s world with the belief that “image is everything” dominating so many job market arenas, there has been a great demand for beauty consultants.  But, the desire to look your best doesn’t just stop with the professional world. Whether we like it or not, EVERYONE is in the public eye. Whether it is through job interviews, traditional media, social networking or the all pervasive video recorders and cell phone cameras, we can be caught in the moment sometimes without our knowledge.  You are not alone if you want to improve how you come across to others.

Your Time Is Valuable
It is a great misconception that you can only have a personal beauty consultant if you were rich, famous or powerful. All it requires is your desire to display your personal beauty to its best form. The convenience of being able to pick up the phone, or send an e-mail and tell your consultant “I need this” is simply priceless. You no longer have to find the time to go to the store and hope and pray that they have your product in stock. Your time is precious regardless of who you are. Why waste your lunch hour rushing to pick up your makeup when you could actually enjoy that time for yourself. You no longer have to deal with the headache of traffic to get fulfill your beauty needs. Moms, how many times have you been in the midst of your daily rush when you realize you are completely out of your cosmectic products and found yourself wondering how you were going to find the time to get what you need in the midst of all of your other duties?  With having your own personal beauty consultant, the product and the service come to you. Ho
w great is that!?!

As my customer you will find that the benefits of my services surpass any that you will acquire over the counter. Where else can you give yourself a virtual makeover while sitting in your pajamas and watching television? Having a beauty consultant opens your world up to endless possibilities with fashion, glamour, self confidence, health and friendships.
Gift Giving Can Be Easy
And guys, do not feel like you would not benefit from a personal beauty consultant. Perhaps you don’t find yourself in need of the cosmetics women use but, you may have your own image/personal needs that you need assistance with. Also, how many times have you found yourself at your whit’s end trying to figure out a gift for special lady or ladies in your life? By having your own personal beauty consultant this task never has to be an emotional and physical burden on you again.
As stated on my website, as my customer you can create your ideal beauty experience. I offer personalized service that is designed to fit you! Just tell me if you would like one-on-one consultation, a party hosted by you with your friends, a virtual party, makeup tips, skincare advice, or free samples. Remember that you can always “try before you buy”.  I also offer services for weddings, mother-daughter events, spa parties, “diva dinners” and so many more.  If you aren’t sure what exactly your needs are we can work together to determine just what they are. If you prefer to shop online only or order by e-mail or phone, the choice is totally YOURS!!! I would love to help you any or all of your image needs.  Let’s talk.

Compact Your World

I wanted to write about the fabulously unique make-up compacts that Mary Kay offers. As a woman who proudly admits that her compact is her constant companion I am so appreciative of this product. There is not another compact on the market like the one we proudly manufacture. In researching additional information about this compact I found this wonderful review and it really says it all. The review is from Jenny Rapson of the website: www.blissfullydomestic.ning.com

By Jenny Rapson on October 1, 2008
I’m not a “Pink Lady” (my oh-so-clever nickname for Mary Kay Consultants), but I do love the products they pedal. I’ve tried lots of cosmetics over the years and Mary Kay is what works best for me and is in my price range. So as you may imagine, I was thrilled when the good folks at Pink Lady Central (aka Mary Kay Corporate) sent me their new compact to try out and review.
It. Is. Awesome!
I love it, and here are a couple of quick reasons why you will love the new Mary Kay Compact too!
  • It’s customizable. You can put six eye shadows in it, or three eye shadows and a blush, or a blush and bronzer, or pressed powder and highlighting powder…the combinations are literally endless! There is also space for a lipstick or lip gloss and your brushes and applicators.
  • It’s easy-to-use. The compact and the items that go in it are MAGNETIC so they stay in place! The compact also has a little tab on it that snaps loose easily when you want to switch out your cosmetics. It’s as simple as can be.
  • It’s just the right size. This compact literally fits in the palm of your hand, and slips into any purse, even a clutch! So you can have your beauty essentials with you anywhere! The surface is scratch-proof also, so no matter what else you have in your purse, your compact will still come out looking great!
